both of these are true. but i'm sure most people just like the 'badass factor.' like being able to say "yeah, my car's RWD but it doesn't even have traction control, and it's a cable throttle unlike all these new watered-down sports cars coming out."

I'd ALSO like to be able to lock the brakes at the track in the event of a spin, to prevent the car abruptly shooting back across the track at a possibly inopportune moment when ABS intervenes.
It's also good to be able to lock the brakes in light snow to scare the wife.

ABS takes an inherently reliable system, and puts a computer-controlled valving between the brake pedal and the calipers. Computers can and do err. Plenty of cars have been trashed and drivers injured and killed due to ABS malfunctions at the track. I'd rather take the computer and extra mechanical valving out of the equation, and have as little complexity as possible between my foot and the brake calipers.
But that's just me...

One other thing i forgot to chime in on. VSA.
I have found that VSA will egauge quite freqently sometimes without the VSA triangle flashing on the dash. I can hear the abs kick in slightly on the front sometimes during a sharp or uneven corner. Kinda freaked me out the first time it happened because it sounds like a slight scraping sound (slight abs kicking in sound)
IMO the s2000 benefits from VSA during daily driving quite a bit. Just imagine how many times VSA would have saved early ap1s from being totaled or wrecked from snap oversteer.... Maybe insurance rates would have been cheaper had ap1s had vsa from the get go. hehe.
i'll admit the vsa kinda takes away from the fun factor of the car during daily driving. Its like a nanny slapping you on the back of the head each time you take a corner faster than your mom does in her accord. Thats why the OFF button is so handy.

Thanks all - very intersting feedback. It seems most say you really cant notice the DBW as opposed to the cable, but then again there are some that say it is quite noticeable. I guess I am at a loss, so to speak, regarding this issue.
