BIG problem, please help!!!
>>I'm really concerned about the longer term consequence of driving without the engine securely mounted for some 12K miles including 2 track events and an autocross not to mention numerous launches. I want some security about future problems I'm just not sure what that entails.<<
Well with the engine mounts disconnected, only the drivetrain weight on the mount arms and subframe, and the tranny mounts, were keeping the engine/tranny in place. For future security I suppose that a good inspection combined with logging in this issue with the dealer is all that is needed. If the drivetrain mounts are anything like a BMW, or most cars for that matter,
you'll have two motor mounts and two tranny mounts. So get your tranny mounts checked out for cracks or other signs of distress since they had to do double duty and may have been twisted more than they'd prefer. Maybe have new ones popped in they are cheap. BTW did you experience any missed shifts or wrong gear selections during that time? Good thing you didn't downshift overrev!!! In that case finding the mount thing could have saved you a stack of green. And look for signs of things rubbing , flexing, stetching, or hitting due to excess engine movement. Even the hood lining can be affected! The exhaust can be affected too. The passenger side motor mount is the one likely to have moved the most due to engine load and direction of rotation. That side sees more tension, the other side more compression assuming the motor's weight squeezes the mounts. I do nearly all of my own service work on my M3..it can be a pain but it is very reassuring knowing that everything is 100% ship shape. Fortunately this no-nuts issue is super easy to check out if others are concerned about their cars.

cthree,
I would document this with the regional Honda service rep and have him write up a report on it just in case you have any problems with the drivetrain that develop at a later date.
I would also have him authorize the replacement of all mounts in the drivetrain including the tranny and rear end as a precaution.

The only person that is allowed to work on my car is me.
As alot of you are discovering, there is a major shortage
of good Auto techs out there. Most of the bright kids opt
for the IT trade these days, so there hasn't been enough skilled people to replace the good techs that have left.
Most people don't know/care too much about the auto repair industry until, of course, they have their pride and joy "repaired" by some high school kid who screws it up. Nothing worse than spending $35k on your car and not be able to get it repaired correctly.
It you think things are bad at the Honda dealers, you haven't been to a Ford dealer lately.
Next time you go to a car dealer, ask them why qualified techs won't work for them.
Oh, C3(po)
I'm pretty sure they put the nuts back on, they just forgot to tighten them! I would get the motor mounts and the TRANS mounts replaced IMHO.

OMG cthree, that is just horrible service. I'd definitely take this up to Honda corporate and document this to make sure this doesn't cause additional problems down the road. They should give you a lifetime warranty for something as dumb as this.
I hope you definitely start taking it to a different dealer for service now. I think you've given your current dealer way too many chances already.
