Default Bilstein PSS9 suspension observations

I hope that this is the rite forum. I had my PSS9 suspension installed over the weekend. The system is adjustable from over stock ride height to a solid slam. I had my car dropped 15mm. The system is adjustable by nine positions, nine being the softest. The system is currently on setting number six. My first impression is that while I still feel what all the wheels are doing, the sharpness of the stock suspension is gone. After doing some serious canyon running, I will say that the suspension is more compliant and it REALLY sticks. I have to thank sky-chicken for bringing the system into the country. Finally, my car is set up for serious road driving with occasional track days thus my priority is not being beaten to death on the street. I can't wait to readjust the shocks at the track and see what they do there.

Why would "the sharpness of the stock suspension is gone" be a good thing? Don't these units have softer than OEM spring rates?

By sharpness, I mean, the sharpness of the initial hit of a hole that is transmitted to the car. The spring set up is dual stage. The initial take up seems to be softer, but firms up quickly, reducing the jarring ride that frost heaves transmit. The ride is extremely planted and confidence inspiring. The car is very tossable and controlled.

Thanks for the write-up. Now, let's hook up for a test drive. I'll let you drive my 4.44's.

I drove FSures car, very smooth and well dampened, felt smoother than stock to me. I didn't have a chance to play with the settings to see how soft and how firm they can go, and I drove it on the street so I can't really say how they would be for the track.

The PSS9 is a fairly soft kit, I can't remember the exact rates but Bilstein took the stance early on that the S2000 needed softer rear springs than what was coming on the '00-'01 models. Since then Honda has softened the stock rear springs, heading in the same direction as the PSS and PSS9 kits.

I believe that the springs are supplied by Eibach for the kit, and Eibach carries a huge assortment of that standard size spring as well as the softer "tender" springs.

If anyone has info on PSS9s for the Evo VIII, please PM me. I am dying for a compliant, ride-conscious set of coilovers. I can't stand the usual JDM "shake out your fillings" dampers and 20 kg/mm spring rates.

I found the spring rates:

345 Lbs in the front w/ 85 Lbs helper springs
285 Lbs in the back
