a bit of tlc for the S
I just wanted to pass along some little things I have done lately, that make ownership a better experience. I have had this car since new, 10/03 and although that only means 39,000 miles we have had adventures.
Replacement of battery....i could have milked this along for a world's record of time but after about 6 years it is time to replace, cranking got a bit slower and performance changed as the battery deminished. I went to Kragens, they sold me an Autolight 84 month battery with one year exchange, the exact same size with more amps...about $89.00 with core.
When the job is done it only takes a 10mm open end wrench to remove the battery hold down and the cables, smart, only one tool. Used a 9 volt radio station keeper deal that only kept the radio stations, you still need the code to start the radio and to reset the clock and dash lights brightness. The check engine light comes on for a while, but the manual says it will turn off after three days....performance is improved...smoother power delievery as the engine computer learns all new fuel maps and what you expect when you press the go pedal.
Squeaks and rattles...placed velcro stips on all surfaces behind seat that show rub marks....I employ the seatback all the way back and the seat almost all the way back, so there is rubbing on the shelf behind the seat.
Top squeaks and rattles...yes for a variety of reasons it is a good thing to lubricate the top frame once and in while....used wd40 in small amounts with a rag backup on each joint and hinge, include the top hinges...the top just smoooothly ups and downs now, no more slight hesitation like it hit a small bump...and quieter.
Wipers...bought some Bosch wiper blades , have to replace them every year or so as the car is low and the windshield picks up dirt which wears the wiper blades, big difference in the rain or while washing the windshield. Wipers are two different sizes in case you have not done this before, best to remove them and bring them in for a size match.
The above along with new 10/30 wt oil, filter, cabin filter and brake check mean we have another service under our belts....you can do all this stuff and your honda will sing that much better for it.

You might want to relube anything you did with wd40. It's a better de-greaser than a lube.
Some white lithium works well as long as you're careful to keep it clean, also Shin-etsu (sp?) works nicely.
I think you'll find the wd40 will wear off pretty quick.

Thought mine was the only one that creaked. the wd 40 seems to work well and getting into those little screwed in joints means spray time. i can always do it again if the noise comes back, i was careful to keep a rag behind the spray so as to eliminate the overspray. the car is allot more quiet, i like that.
