Yes, I think with a hardtop it looks quite good removed. Over here we are top down all year round and have little need for hard tops. I find in this situation the black tape blends nicely with the black of the rollbars, seats, soft top cover etc. (Everything above the door sills black seems to give the car a sleeker look with the roof down.) I guess it depends on how often you're going to have the hard top on. At the end of the day it's just personal preference

Could you put the tape back on if you wanted? Does it have a part number? Cost?

It has a part number and I think it's pricy....$100 or so, but it is supposed to be next to impossible to get it back on right.
