I love the color of the wheels on the blue one. What color would you call that?
Guntersmurf,
The color wheel on the blue Skyline R34 has a couple of names...it's either smoke or gunsmoke. I ordered smoke TE37's...but they look more Anthracite to me (depends on the lighting)...

Smoke, gunsmoke, antrhacite are all names of colors.
Oh...the best way to go is powdercoating. I called a powdercoating store this morning and they quoted me $45 a wheel for 16 inch powdercoating. I suspect there will be charges added on to the $45, it seems to cheap. My friend in San Antonio pays $90 a wheel to powdercoat his 17 inch wheels a smoke color. I also have a friend that powdercoats...check out the link below...
Why it costs so much is because they have to remove the clear coat, paint, or whatever suface or coating on your wheels by sandblasting or using chemicals...shoot...here is some details and pics on powdercoating.

I got my 18" on my yellow Prelude done in white for about $40 dollars a wheel. They did a great job, but after about two weeks, I got tired of that color combo. I then went back for a quote on getting the wheels re-done on in Silver gun metal. They then quoted me only about $30 a wheel because the rims don't need re-powedercoating. Once they are already coated, you can paint the wheels and have the paint clear coated for protection from chipping.
Maybe that's why your quote is low, seeing that they don't have to go through the powder coat process.

Luder, having had 3 sets of wheels powdercoated, I can tell you that painting over a powdercoated wheel defeats the purpose of powdercoating. P/C takes place of painting, and is preferable because if done properly, a powdercoated wheel is VERY hard to scratch, unlike a painted wheel. BTW, $50 per wheel, including chem-peeling or otherwise removing the old paint first is about right. So I don't see why you would paint and clear-coat a previously P/C wheel. What's the point?
Thanks for all the help, guys. I believe anthracite is the color I'm looking for. Fifty-ish bucks seems reasonable enough that I could have one wheel done and see how it looks. Is powdercoating removable?
That's exactly what my bodyshop "guy" told me. Powdercoating a wheel is a very durable finish, however, the powdercoat surface (the surface that's open to the elements) is very much like paint. Paint will adhere to paint, therefore taking off a powdercoat finish to put another on, is unnecessary.
Now, mind you, I am only regurgetating what my body shop guy told me. He's been working and planning on my car for the import show scene, and he knows that my Prelude is a daily driver in the spring, summer, and fall. I don't race it. I've been driving the Lude on and off with alot of salt on the Chicago streets for the past two months. So far the paint over the powdercoat has lasted.
