True, in tokyo I saw all kind of sports cars with black wheels (rx7's, 911's, Diablo's, and skylines of course).
To me its a way of taming down the "show-off factor" of a car, it gives it a meaner look and the effect while driving is nice (the brake discs are more apparent).

Luder94,

Maybe I should just have the stock wheels painted...I'm only using the wheels for jish (just in case $hit happens) & track events anyhow.

Thanks,

I got a quote from a powdercoat joint in Reno for $55-$60 per corner, not including messing around taking the rubber, valve stems, and lead off beforehand. What can I expect to pay to have a tire shop remove and then remount my tires?

Thanks,
I'm guessing that because you are using them for track events would be a great reason to get them powdercoated. With the excess heat, and extras stress on the rims, I wouldn't be surprised if the paint would start to chip or flake off.

I was only saying that painting worked for me because the first coat of color is powdercoated already. Aside from that, my car is babied and driven as a daily driver. Painting works for me because it's a quick way for me to get the color changed on them right before a show.

Find a Discount Tire near you, they do it pretty cheap here in Chicago for about $20-$25. If you've bought and mounted tires from them before you may even be able to get the shop to do it for free, just make sure they do a careful job of re-mounting after you bring the powder-coated rims back to them. The re-mounting machines can scratch any suface pretty easily.

In fact, I don't see why the powdercoat shop doesn't include the remounting as a part of their service.

In any case here's Discount Tires web site for you to locate a store in NV. . .they should be littered everywhere in NV seeing that they are a NV based company.

I called my man who does the tires on my fleet trucks and he said he would do it all for $7.50 / wheel including new stems!
