Default black windshield tape...

hi guys as some of you may know i took my tape off and the finish was bad... i now have three choices and i want to know which one i should take.

1 i can buy the tape again
2 get the frame painted yellow with risk of mismatched color
3 just get it painted black

if you think i should do number 1 where could i get the tape? is it available at h and a??? cuz i went to the dealer and some ass told me that i have to buy the whole frame the tape

IMO Go with no 1. Try and buy the tape again. It just might be the cheapest solution.

I would only go with choice 2 if you knew of a good quality paint shop that is willing to pay attention to detail to get the color right.

I would not go with choice 3 because your introducing another base color. They are going to strip the winshield frame, primer it, and paint it (that's if you want it done right!).

Whatever your decision...I hope things work out! Good Luck!

The dealer is wrong, and just wants your money! Email Trevor at HandA for a price quote on the tape.

How about going with #2, and if you're not happy with the color match, THEN go with #1...

DJHohum, sorry to hear of your paint troubles. But personally, having taken my tape off way back when, like well over a year ago, I have seen just about every possibile situation with it.

Solution #1 - I can't imagine how difficult it would be to put the tape back on. I wouldn't even attempt it. But the tape is available for H and A for about 120 bucks for all 3 pieces, if memory serves.

Solution #2 - More desirable. But still not ideal...

Solution #3 - Easiest, without having to color match. This is simple as gloss or flat black is just that, gloss or flat black. No color matching involved, therefore no potential issues there.

Have you tried polishing it and buffing it? I had a couple of small blemishes that more or less came out after I used a few different polishes and stuff on them. I don't even notice them any more...but it was never bad to begin with.

But given these choices? I would go for #3 without question.

Good luck!

The finish under mine is not good either...but it doesn't really bother me too much.
