I've had 250+ torque on my comptech reinforced diff for over a year without any problems.

Many people have had their diffs for thousands upon thousands of miles without any problems. Not to mention there are a few that launch there car all day long, autox with R compounds, and go to race tracks all with 0 problems.

Considering only a handfull of people (in the grand scheme of things) have had blown diffs, I'd bet they failed due to user error despite what he/she might say.

i can agree to a certain point... i myself havent abused the car. the rear end seems to be alot like the motor... an over rev from a past owner can do the damage, but it not happen till you get it.. and without warning.

past owner could launch, wheel hop and beat the shit out of it. you buy it, take care of it, only for it to let go.

long as i can sleep well at night knowing the way i drive, that my comptech will be ok.

I'll agree with that as well. I'm sure there are cases were previous owner abuse is what caused the failure.

My point was more so that improper use of the diff causes failure (no matter who it might be). 9 times out of 10, things don't just break without reason.

Had a very faint wine with a subtle decel knock until today's "POP!". Car still rolls, but I can tell it's life is measured in minutes. The case didn't crack, but I can wobble the outputs by hand. Found a bad wheel bearing too. Good day.

It seems this s2k drivetrain is very senstive to shock, and the diff there is the weak...is this why the CDV was implemented to lessen diff shock?

One day I'll run a PuddyMod diff, but the money is tight so used it is.

thats a very good question. I've always wondered that as well. I'm assuming there must have been a good reason for it, and a CDV is way cheaper for honda to throw on than a totally re-designed rear end. We all know the s2000 diff would do better powering a 100hp car
