Blue painters tape works well. I do this on very long trips to save on the bugs/stone chips/random crap flying at the car. If you do get into a lot of rain then heat it can leave some residue but that comes off easily with a claybar.

 

Stay away from racers tape. The glue residue is just as bad as duct tape. I've run blue painters tape at track days in all conditions and never had it leave a residue. I do wax the car before track weekends.

 

I think about 2 hours. Well worth it though, i was going from maryland to florida. After a trip like that its amazing to see all the crap on the tape and not on the bumper

 

I've done this many times, its worth putting on, easy to apply easy to remove, just dont leave it on for over a day, it doesn't leave much residue just in some edges, nothing big, its good to put on the lip mirrors and headlights, I'm going to be doing this in my so cali to nor cali trip in a few weeks

 

Then just get the clear bra and be done with it.

 

I used the tape to drive to New York, worked perfect
