You did the right thing and are fortunate they let you do that. Most used cars, especially 5 year old cars are sold "AS IS" for this very reason!

Smart move to have asked for that in the first place. Good choice based on the result. It didn't happen on your watch, so it shouldn't be your headache to deal with.

if they would have gave you a new engine i would of accepted it because a 2005 is a used car and if you noticed most of the people here dont actually baby their car so you can expect anytthing from the car.

I have parted out 32 S2000 and do a compression check on all engine and I have had 3 engine with those same # but only one cylinder. The last one only had 32K miles on it and talked to the owner of the car and it was is wife car and it was never dog. I did a leak down and you can here air coming out of the exhaust side removed head and cylinder walls were great shape send head out and it's the exhaust guide. The machine shop I go to does all the local Honda dealers heads and he told me that is a very common problem with the S2000 engine always have worn exhaust valves. Reinstalled head 230 psi on all cylinders

That is actually very helpful information. I'd love to see a writeup of some sort on that. I plan on doing compression and leak down on my car after Christmas.
