I commend them for offering to fix it and to warranty it, it's more than a lot of places would have done. But always go with your first instincts and don't second guess yourself. Look to buying one in the future which you will be comfortable owning.

HAHHA coming from a subaru, we are all paranoid about our engines. I had mine compression tested as well. It was 230 across the board. I ended up buying it then next day.

I have parted out 32 S2000 and do a compression check on all engine and I have had 3 engine with those same # but only one cylinder. The last one only had 32K miles on it and talked to the owner of the car and it was is wife car and it was never dog. I did a leak down and you can here air coming out of the exhaust side removed head and cylinder walls were great shape send head out and it's the exhaust guide. The machine shop I go to does all the local Honda dealers heads and he told me that is a very common problem with the S2000 engine always have worn exhaust valves. Reinstalled head 230 psi on all cylinders
I run an upper cylinder lube in my fuel from time to time. Given a chance of early valve guide wear I might just continue running the UCL as it tends to lube parts that are in the path of the fuel stream which may in turn help valve guides I think.

Hahaha, good to see you here.

But yeah, no kidding, we are SUPER SUPER paranoid. The GM told me I was being paranoid. Afterwards i was like, see, I would have been screwed... haha

He's was laughing about it and actually truly didn't seem pissed about it, he was more surprised than anything. I bet he was gambling that the numbers would have been fine.

As for everyone saying I should have done the test first before the paper work, well, it was a Sunday, and I was kind of antsy, I've been doing tons of driving every weekend and even took a day off of work to drive 125 miles out to San Diego and Fallbrook (didn't buy that car either of those cars)...

Went to go look at an '04 today at Airport Marina Honda, just barely listed this week on autotrader, and it was gone already. Same with an '05 at Norm Reeves Honda, just barely listed this week too.

I'm gonna go take a look at another one tomorrow. if that's a no go, then all the rest sitting at dealers (not used car dealers, but actual car manufacturer dealerships) are starting to get out of the budget I set for myself.

I also don't feel like going private party because it's a lot harder to make these kinds of demands and get all this stuff in writing. It's also a PITA to try to schedule this kind of testing too.

quite honestly I doubt any Honda dealer does a compression test on their used cars unless they suspect an issue and it runs poorly, so they likely wouldn't know if there are any irregularities. Big thumbs-up to you for making the test a requirement of the sale, very smart move on your part. I wish I had thought of that when I bought my used S2K, though the previous owner told me that he had a compression test done on it and I trusted the guy as he was very anal about maintaining the car, who knows .
