Good time for some Motul600 or ATE Super Blue...

Im with Cdelena... drain the line and cylinder, then replace the line, and flush the whole system.

I have to ask why you replacing the line from the master cylinder? Did you have a problem with the line?

Any thoughts on Castrol Syntec DOT3&4 High Performance Synthetic fluid? It has a wet BP of 313F and a dry BP of 530F. It is locally available (Pep Boys) and cheap ($4.49/quart). It says it's compatible with conventional fluid.

Yikes. This makes the money I spent at the dealer for the SS-line install that much better of a value.

I use Motul Racing 600 fluid. A bit more expensive but the boiling points are very high.

I used it for my first two track events and it did just fine. I have since started using ATE that has a bit better numbers but at ten bucks a liter costs twice as much.

Actually it was Valvoline synthetic I used but it sounds similar.

Well I've figured out how to solve my problem...let someone else fix it! After spending almost two hours trying to resolve this issue I accomplished little more than spilling a pint of coolant on my garage floor. I'm going to take it in Monday to have it fixed.

This incident has led me to three conclusions:

1. I lack the skill and experience to do mechanical repairs and mods to my car
2. I lack the patience and aptitude to learn
3. I should stick to what I know

I imagine they will cut off the flare, replace the nut and reflare the existing tubing. I guess it could have been worse.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers and thanks to everyone for your advice.

CThree - Be careful with the 10mm wrench that damaged the nut. It may have also damaged the wrench by spreading it beyond the 10 mm spec. Also, if you want help putting the lines on, I'd be happy to help. TFota has my number. I've done lots of brake work and have all the right tools (including a good bleeder).
