Default Please Help! First Brake Fluid Flush.

There are some little stuff I'm not sure about. like, if the fluid will just keep coming out as long as the brake is applied, or if the pressure will decrease and require the brakes to be released and reapplied for more pressure (more fluid to come out). and also, how empty I should get the reservoir to be before I add the new fluid in. having it not empty enough will cause the new fluid to mix with some of the old. and I'm not sure about getting it completely empty (is it bad to pump the brakes after it's completely empty? just in case I accidentally do?). and my "old" brake fluid is still pretty new so I don't know if I could tell a difference by looking at them yet. I hope all goes well!!

so far, from my understanding, this is how I will flush my old brake fluid, and then bleed my new fluid:

1. have partner apply steady pressure on the brakes. open front left bleed screw and tighten before telling him to release the brakes. continue until fluid reservoir is empty.

2. add new brake fluid into the reservoir to the max line.

3. repeat step one until I see the new fluid start to come out. do this starting from the front left, FR, RR, and then RL. also make sure to top off the fluid to max after every caliper.

I refill the reservoir at about 1/4 full. if you suck in any air, you have to start over. mixing a little new and old fluid's fine. After a few more pumps, the old fluid will leave the brake line.

using ate superblue and gold is a nice rotation combo because you can clearly see the new and old fluid.

I bottle of ATE Super Blue is surely enough to do the entire car. You'll use 3/4 -7/8 of the container.

By trial, I've found the best sequence is RF, LF, LR, RR.

Empty the master with a turkey baster.

Crack the right front bleeder, the level will start to drop. Get it a little lower, but not enough to suck air.

Fill the master to the very top with ATE blue.

Start with the right front bleeder. Attach a clear hose, and let it gravity bleed till it turns blue.

Repeat for the remaining wheels.

You'll have such a great brake pedal from the gravity bleed it will feel like the pedal is welded to the car smile.gif

I have used this procedure on countless s2ks.

this may be obvious to others but it wasn't to me. When my mechanic flushed all the fluids on my new to me s2k, he recommended replacing the existing DOT3 with DOT4, especially he said if I planned on doing any track or autox with it.
