Actually the stock 05 has 245 section rear tires. Tires could easily explain a 2ft difference in braking distance. That could also be a test to test variation. Based on this data I would keep the stock setup and maybe change pads/lines/fluid at most for track use.
I'm convinced that Karner's car would have stopped the shortest if it had ABS since his car was completely stripped, race-prepped and running on R compounds.
^^^to consider too is that Karner car had race pads for sure, and we all know that in cold race pads sucks
Yesterday I got 2 issues of Sport Compact car magazine, one of them tested a 350Z sligly modded, cams and wheels, vs other highly modded, SC, wings, BBK, suspension... the first one won in a race one to one by 2 seconds. even the spoon Jazz made better time than the 350Z highly modded!!!
they also explain the myth of tunning like BBK, bolt ons, Wings, Cage....
I the other issue the editor wrote about the problems that test and report produced: some BBK and springs brand cancel their advertaisment account! with the magazine.

My S is my track car and Watkins Glen is known as a high brake load track.
I have never experienced brake issues and all I have done to the OEM system is this
- Race brake fluid, changed 3 to 5-times per year
- Cobalt or Carbotech pads, true track pads, only used while at the track
- Stainless braided brake lines
- OEM rotors and Centric Premium rotors
- OEM calipers, rebuilt every 3 to 4 years
- Additional cooling front and rear
I'm no fan of big brake kits, I feel the increase cost does not match up to the so called increase in performance. Keep in mind I may go through 2-complete sets of rotors every 7,000 miles, and the cost of OEM or Centric Premium is way more attractive than fancy big aftermarket rotors that sell for a premium cost.
