I hit VTEC on my '05 with less than 30 miles on it. I picked it up with 22 miles. I've always warmed up my engines before running them hard, but I think the break-in BS is to effectively reduce the warranty down to 35,400 instead of 36,000 miles.

Bedding the brake pads is important, but doesn't take 200 miles. Getting the drivetrain (excluding engine) all seated and mated up nice and pretty takes several heat cycles, but spinning the motor up pretty early on, especially with a Honda motor with tight tolerances isn't going to hurt the engine at all.

I have 800+ miles on my S2000 and I've redlined/hit rev limiter on the car at least a few hundred times minimum.

I'm driving it like I leased it.....oh wait, I did.
