Break in....a few questions...

Default Break in....a few questions...

Ok...well, i just realized my Owners manual is in French

Can someone tell me proper break in? I know not to touch VTEC within 1000miles

Anyting else?

Here in the states, we're not to go into VTEC territory until 600 miles. No hard breaking before 300 miles. Depending on your driving habits, first oil change around 3750 or 7500 miles. However, the manual states one year or 7500 miles, whichever comes first. Make sure you check the oil level often. The engine has a habit of using oil during the break-in period.

for the first 1000 Km

no full throttle starts and rapid acceleration
do not exceed 5500 rpm
do not change oil until 6000 kilometers.

Remember that that is a guideline - your engine takes 7500-10,000 miles to really break in.

In addition to above:
vary your engine RPM-ie avoid setting the cruise control or driving at one speed in one gear.
