Oh I totally agree with both of you.. I am breaking my car in according to the manual even though this advice was given to me. I did argue this same point with them and they agreed that they are different beasts. I think they meant that you need to goose it once and a while and until you hit the 600 miles it is best to drive it fairly calmly. I will NEVER see 80K on my car, in fact I will be lucky to hit 20K in the next four years on it, but you never know. I am just doing what the manual says so that someone doesn't get burnt at 80K on this car after I have owned it. Its only 600 miles!

read owners manual, my 04 was no vetch till 600 miles, i use no oil or have any issues at all and am at 13,000 miles now...read owners manual for sure and then choose your own break in. i went with factory which included a measure of self control at first...who knows if it is why my car does not use oil and is very strong.
