I have 400 miles on my brand new S2K. I have been keeping it under 6,000 rpms and I will keep doing so until 600 miles. I have also heard some suggestions about getting my first oil change at 1,000 miles. Any other advise you guys have for me????

 

It sounds like you are breaking-in the car correctly. As far as the oil change goes, it's a matter of opinion. I think 1000 miles is too soon. I think most people kept their break-in oil until at least 3000 to 3750 miles. The manual recommends the first oil change/service at 7500 miles, but most opt for a shorter interval.

 

A heads up for ya.....keep checking your oil level. Mine used most of a quart by 2,000 miles. It's "normal" by all accounts. Some seem to use more than others, and some none at all. I've been advised to wait until 3750 for the first oil change and intend to do so. What is interesting is that after I topped off with the additional oil (Mobil 10w 30) I started to see the usual color change. When it was near the low mark, it was still clear and new looking. Hope any of this helps.

Change your first oil at 3700 or so. Most recommend waiting till the second oil change if you are going to synthetic. I'm waiting for the 3700 miles before any engine mods. I'm at 2600 and am trying to drive it more on weekends.
