The RE050 is to be the new tire on the MY04? I know it is on my brother's E55 AMG.

The Ferrari Enzo has a special one-off "Scuderia" version.

I don't think I'd swap them onto an S - talk about lowering performance...

We should hold up these off the wall opinions until we see what the excellent folks at Honda have in store for us. Just like the SO2s we may have a special edition. ;D

I have some RE750's and they really comprimise performance. However, the tread life is great and I just cruise in my car any way. Seems to me like Honda is really trying to make the car more appealing to a larger crowd. Not only is the suspension softer, but so are the stock tires.

Has the same wear rating as the S02's on the current models. I expect the OEM versions will be fine.

these tires probably offer better safety in the rain, maybe thats why honda changed to these tires.

no wonder they call S02's = Summer Only

It feels nice to be quoted. They really are "summer only" tires and dry surface only after about 6,000 to 8,000 miles.

I think the new tires will have to compromise performance in exchange for more "mainstream" safety in wet or cold conditions. If you assume that compromise, I think that's a good decision on Honda's part for someone using an S2000 as a daily driver.

I have the RE070's on my STi and they are quite good in dry, but not great in rain. Lots of road noise too, but I'm willing to accept that. I think these new tires on the S2K will definately be geared towards better rain traction.
