Default Broken Locking Mechanism for Glove Box

The lock for my glove box is broken. I have to get it replaced and the Honda dealership said its about $40 for a new one. Anyone ever break their lock before? Is the labor to put in on a pain in the ass?

My main concern is the key. Honda said a new key comes with it. So I would have to carry my regular key and my glove box key. Unless I can go to a locksmith and tell them to make that lock work with my ignition key? Can this be done?

Do you really lock your glove compartment all that often to worry about the key and lock matching?

Anything can be done but I wouldn't think the cost would be worth it.
