broken rear window
I made the mistake of bringing the top down when it was -5C outside to air out the interior of my 2001 S2K. As the roof was coming back, at about the halfway point I heard a terrible "crack!", and the rear window (plastic) had broken in a vertical line, right down the middle. A little triangular piece even shattered out of it. I guess the plastic window gets brittle in the cold.
Since then, I've discovered it costs $800 CAD + labor + tax to replace it. That seems absurd for a piece of plastic... has anyone else had this problem? Do I have any other options that don't involve me getting blatantly ripped off? I'm sick of driving around with a strip of packing tape on my rear window
Thanks.

A new top with glass is $850 from hardtopguy, the frame requires some modification to make it work right, but I'd do that (i'm already planning on doing that and my rear window is fine!)
