Probably you had the small rock chip and the crack generated from that. You could have had the rock chip for a very long time and finally a combination of temperature, vibrational forces, alignment of the planets or damn bad luck allowed the crack to develop or worsen.

Did you call your insurance company to see if you have insurance for the windshield? Many people do.

All that and one period

The windshield costs several hundred to replace. If it's smaller than a quarter, it's likely it can be repaired for $40 or so.

I just had mine replaced. Fortunately, insurance covered it. It was $590.

590???!!! I got two quotes for mine. One shop said 385, and the other offered me 420 with a full interior and exterior detail!!!

For 590 your insurance company got raped!

Many states require insurance companys to do auto glass replacement with no deductable. Check with your carrier.

If this is the case, the company that replaces your glass will charge the insurance company the maximum that the insurance company will allow. This amount will most certainly be more than a quote that you would get if you were paying out of your own pocket.

I doubt that you will be able to get OEM Honda glass. The few times I have needed glass, the dealerships wouldn't accept my insurance as they want much more for factory glass than the insurance company allows. Even if you were willing to foot the difference, your insurance company most likely will not go along. But it never hurts to ask.

Good Luck.
