Bucking S 2000
That is but one option and one possibility. You need to first make sure all the existing parts are functioning up to spec. A bad MAP sensor will only plague any future tuning regardless how fancy an add on you try next.
I thought this was me as a driver. I did notice that I did it a couple of times once next to RSX and the driver was looking at me funny. I thought there was something wrong with the clutch like it got overheated or something.
Had the same problem. On the occassions it happened, it always occured when a high speed commute suddenly became a crawl < 5mph.
I found a solution that worked for me.
I read in a thread here last year that the S2000 is often delivered with the throttle cable exceedingly loose. It was referred to as the "granny factor" Honda used to make sure the car's responsiveness was restricted so uninitiated drivers didn't "jack rabbit" into the car in front of them when accelerating from a dead stop.
Sure enough, I took it in and the dealer found it had about 3/4" of excess play ... adjusted it and have never had the problem since. It also made the car a bit more response on acceleration.

Er, here's a consideration, why not just take off in 2nd, a bit more clutch wear, but nothing that's out of the ordinary. I encourages the higher use of clutch (Necessary with this car in slow traffic) and you'll give it a bit more RPMs to work with when starting off. Try just staying in 2nd, and think about it, with such a close ratio in the tranny, it's easy to start in 2nd.
You're probably right, but I was only saying do that in very limited circumstances. I'd think that bucking your engine would be more dangerous than burning a bit more off the clutch as often? And I think that the clutch play in 1st would be nearly as much as in 2nd?
It seems to me that there are two different things that are being reported in these "bucking" threads. One sounds like a momentary hiccup from the metering system after extended running and then coming to a slow crawl. The other is just normal lugging while creeping along in traffic. Since lugging happens in large part because you are going too slow for the gear you are in, putting it in a higher gear would only serve to make it worse and will definitely cause extra stress/wear on the clutch.

An example (although not an S2000 but still relavent):
My son drives a manual pickup truck (RWD). One year ago, he had a new clutch put in. Someone told him to NEVER start out in 1st but to start out in 2nd all the time. He did this for the last year. He just had another new clutch put in last week. And keep in mind that 1/2 his driving was in slippery winter conditions.
This just happened to me Saturday in Waikiki Traffic.
