Building the differential

Gearbox assembly

Rear suspension arms

Motor installed

Front bulkhead and suspension

Shocks installed

Steering servo installed on chassis

Other half of chassis bolted together

Rear and front bulkheads attached to chassis

Some rims and rubber

Finally the chassis is done (minus electronics)

Lastly, still need to trim and paint the body! Will be black to match my Berlina.

Nice! Where did you buy it? Do they still have more?
Just the other day, I got a Tamiya model kit (not R\C).

I went through this same dilemma myself. When I decided I wanted one, it was too late and Tamiya USA had no more. I had a friend in Japan call the model shops there to see if anyone had one laying around and no luck.

However, I was able to buy another model that uses the same M-04 chassis and I bought the S2000 body (several), wheels and tires and I can now make my very own. It will be exactly the same thing as if I had gotten the kit. Tamiya shares many, many parts between their kits.

I just finished building a Tamiya Mini Cooper (original style) with all the hop ups (too many actually :-), and have to build my S2000, a Black Foot Extreme, a Frog (the re-released version, still in sealed box) and the new F-350 High Lift (still sealed in the box).

I've been in R/C many years, mostly racing on and off-road. I've given all that up and as you can tell, have gotten nostalgic about my beginnings in R/C and thus, the Tamiya fetish.

The Frog was the first R/C car I ever saw and thus, the reason I jumped on a re-released kit as soon as they came out. The Super Blackfoot was the first R/C car I ever had and hence the reason I got the Extreme (not the same as the chassis has changed from the modified Frog chassis but what can you do.....I could not get a Super Blackfoot or even a King Blackfoot which was still pretty much the same.

The Mini I got 'cause I always wanted one and the F-350 because it's the closest thing to getting a Bruiser that I'll ever get as finding these is very difficult and the prices are astronomical.

Where did you get an extra Tamiya S2K body? I thought they were all discontinued too? I was going to keep this one as a display car but if I can get my hands on more S2K bodies, I will definitely slap on a speed controller and a new motor and run it.

I've been in the hobby for about 8-9 years and started off with a Tamiya TA03R. I still have a llot of RC's (nitro and electric), but I will be lucky to run them more than a few times a year. Been way too busy lately.

The hi-lift F-350 is way cool with the powertrain and mini leaf springs. Anyways, theres nothing like building a Tamiya!
