Any help would be appreciated, i haven't been feeling well all month; so maybe some advice would cheer me up.
Save up, stop scraping from the bottom of the barrel. Buy a civic. Live within your means.
Harsh, but he's right. S2000 for 9 grand doesn't make the tires (expensive and wear out quickly), insurance (very high for a 9k car if you get full coverage and you probably should if 9k is a lot of money to you), or gas (premium and mileage is usually low 20's combined, my stock ap2 with perfect compression and low miles only gets 20 mixed) any cheaper than a 15k s2000. I have a philosophy that makes my life a lot easier: when i could afford a car cash, I bought a motorcycle for half the cost. When I could afford a nice used car (10-15k), I bought a cheaper car for half that (used GSR etc.). When I could afford afford an NSX, I bought the s2000. When I can finally afford what I consider a very expensive car cash (75-100k), I'll buy an NA2 NSX. JMO.

Any $9000 s2000 will have no soft top, ripped soft top, salvage title, flood damage, accident damage, repaint, bad wheels/tires, misaligned body panels or many other issues....go save up some real money or buy a Civic. These cars cost money to maintain, insure and drive.
Mine didn't have any of those and was $8300...

As others have mentioned, patience is key.

I know someone selling his S2000. Good people. He's asking a little more than what you budgeted, but perhaps you can work something out. Don't know what flexibility he has on price, but I can tell you he's alright, a straight-shooter, and takes good care of his stuff.

I know if he and his wife weren't buying a house with only a one car garage, he'd be keeping this thing.

Mine either, same price roughly with clear history and title. The only issues i inherited were a noisy (for me) aftermarket exhaust and a sticky brake caliper. Found a stock exhaust for $50 and a new caliper for $80. I've always bought my Hondas with over 100k and never had any real issues.

The OP hasn't posted since the first post. Didn't like the advice? Or bought a salvage title and now is towing it home?

Since we are on the topic of entry level pricing. I have a 2006 with 238K miles I plan on selling in a couple months. Clean title, history, all records, good condition, stock. What do you all think the value is?.

Talk about highway miles, its still has the original clutch.

Seems like he bought one, and he's already experiencing some kind of issue. He says he didn't notice it until after he bought it. The S2000 is a small car with an even smaller interior, how could you miss it?

With that kind of mileage I have no clue what it's worth but you are definitely in no man's land. It would take a special buyer for that kind of car.

As for the $9k budget, I think most of those cars are going to have ripped tops, 100k+ miles and other issues. Especially here on the west coast where people love to mod their cars.

It's not a big deal, rather than make assumptions and say i am experiencing "issues". This is my first car, and I'm pretty sure its a rev counter. The car is great and you can downplay my decision making. But for only being 17 I am thrilled I own such an amazing car.
