Bumper repair and paint question
Here's the shortened version:
When I was backing the car out, I hit the corner of the garage and ended up scraping the paint on the side of rear bumper just behind the rear passenger side tire.
First, I cussed. Then screamed and cussed some more. But anyways, I tried to buff out most of the damage with Mother's Scratch Remover but I'm still left with a spot about the size of a quarter where the paint was taken off down to the plastic and the surrounding area is heavily scratched. The bumper was not cracked or damaged just the paint. I tried covering up the spot with a touch up marker but the surrounding area is still heavily scratched.
So I'm wondering how hard it is to remove to rear bumper cover?
And can I take the bumper cover to a bodyshop and have someone just paint the damage area and blend it in with the existing paint without repainting the whole bumper?
It's also worth mentioning that the car is Silverstone and that I'm aware that matching the silverstone can be a pain in the butt.
-Thanks

Do you think a body shop can just paint the damaged area only and blend it in without having to repaint the whole bumper?
I was just trying to save a few dollars and not repaint the whole thing.
Thanks

Well I called a local body shop and they said that they could repaint the damaged the area and blend it with the rest of the bumper. Now I just need to take the car down there to get an estimate to see if it's worth repainting it.
Thanks for the advice.

Hey, I see a lot of folks are having trouble matching the Silverstone paint. After touching up my front lip, the repainted areas looked too light. I thought I was going to have to have the whole front end professionally done. But, after about 2 months, the new paint (OEM) aged perfectly. You may not not get a perfect match with fresh paint, but wait a bit and I think you will be pleased.
Personally, I reccommend that you get the entire bumper painted.
Yes, they can 'blend' just the area that got the nicks on it; but, it is very possible that the 'clear' they use will not perfectly match Honda's clear coat. And honestly, I do not think it would cost too much more too actually paint the whole thing....
You might even be able to find a used bumber already painted if you look around...Just curious...how much dya expect to save/spend?
