Default Busted!

Finally,

The unavoidable happened (last week). Busted doing 103 in a 70 in my S. There was nothing but beautiful blue sky, downhill open road, VTEC roar, and Mr. FL Highway Patrol Officer hiding in the tree shaded median. Good thing for highway traffic up ahead, it should have been 125+. I was trying to be responsible.

This tragic event has taken all the fun out of driving, at least until my insurance is cancelled. At that point, I'll have an extra $265 a month to burn.

I just needed to vent and get confirmation from you guys that this will show up on my insurance no matter what I do (take the class/get on my hands and knees for the "small town judge" 500 miles away and beg for mercy).

Your legal advice is appreciated. Have any laws changed since I viewed every "Busted-How do I get out of it" posts on this site 5 minutes ago?

Thanks,
Brian

Dr. Jeckyl,
Yes, can you believe it? This car should be exempt from the archaic speeding laws. Our car can do 100+ safely with complete control (regardless of road conditions). Why should I be penalized for speed infractions based on the performance of 1980's American made vehicles? Technically, I was only 3 mph over the limit and I'm sticking to that.

Pellis,
Good idea but with the small town police modernization fine I'll be paying, I really can't afford one. I need free advice.

Pappy??? You live in Tampa man! Wake up! Thanks for the support but I'll have to take you to the Monday Night Bucs vs. Dolphins preseason game in August! I know preseason doesn't mean anything but....John Gruden "Chucky" 38/Dave Wonstat 3. Once you go "Pirate Ship" live and in person, you never go back!

Any legal/insurance advice anyone?

Yeah I got some advice for you... living in florida and all.. 1) Don't pay the ticket.. basically you are saying you are guilty. If you can hire and attorney most of the time they are like $75 and cheaper than paying the ticket.. worse comes to worse then give u 4 hrs of traffic school and you can take those sorry Comedy ones. 2) NEVER go over 100MPH with out a watch person in the car for you.... u need another set of eyes to keep look out for those great cops we all love FHP's. and 3) Buc's SUCK!.. GO FINS!!

Actually even if it goes on your record it could be several years before the insurance company sees it. Auto insurance companies only run your record about every 5 years as long as you don't change companies or get into an accident. If you stay accident free the ticket may not ever be noticed. It really all depends on where in the cycle you are, i.e. most insurance companies check about 20% of their clients records per year.
