There are lawyers that specialize in helping people with traffic violations like these. I think they're actually pretty popular here in NY where the insurance rates are quite high. I would propbably talk to one of those guys. Definately plead "not-guilty" for now. My friend actually got busted street racing and was actually put in handcuffs and taken away. He hired one of these lawyers and I think he ended up paying some outragous fine. But, the lawyer got the charges dropped to violations that would not or hardly affected he insurance, not to mention that he got to keep his license. Definately worth the $$$ in my book.

Auto insurance companies only run your record about every 5 years as long as you don't change companies or get into an accident. If you stay accident free the ticket may not ever be noticed. It really all depends on where in the cycle you are, i.e. most insurance companies check about 20% of their clients records per year.
I wish, if this was the case, I would probably paying a lot less for insurance. If you have a policy with any of the big name insurance companies, they'll have fully staffed underwritting depts just to check up on you for things like this. Chances are, if you are convicted of this, they'll find out when your policy comes up for renew.

Hey if it's an "Infraction" i beleive it what it's called don't bother going to an attorney most of the time they can't do jack... BUt if you show up to court.. sometimes cops don't even show up unless you were a real big A-hole and they make sure to mark it down.. but if you said "Yes officer i know i was speeding.. i'm sorry" most of the time those cops wont even show!

1. If a lawyer can get you off, it will be cheaper to get the lawyer than pay the fine
2. If the lawyer can get you off, it will be MUCH cheaper than your insurance increase
3. Lawyer + Valentine One = still probably cheaper than the fine and insurance increase
4. Using a radar detector + thumbing your nose at the cop after you shut it down and the state misses out on a 103 in a 70 ticket = PRICELESS!

I am sure that the cop will show up in court for going 100+ mph. In South Carolina, for what I'm told, the cops get paid a little extra when in court on the citations they write. I'm sure the judge would be pissed off if he did not show up when you were going so fast. Ask for a motion of discovery prior to the court date. The items you might normally need for a radar speeding ticket are the following; repair records, manufacturers manual and specifications, a log of the calibrations, and a copy of the departments FCC license to operate a radar unit, a copy of the repair calibration, and accuracy of the tuning fork. The arrest record of the police officer for three months prior to the date of your offense. His log for the day of your citation. Both copies of your original citation. A speedometer calibration certificate, all the maintenance and the repair records and the service records for the patrol car that was used in stopping you for your violation. I had a friend who did this and won his case. He was ticketed for 95 in a 70 zone. This is my non-lawyer advice. There are some other issues with this motion if you choose to ask for it. I only know of this because my friend and I extensively researched the laws governing speeding and possible outs.

It's not only going to cost him, but I'm pretty sure this is considered reckless driving. At least in CA it is, not sure about the laws in FL.

Get a good lawyer. It'll be worth it in the end.
