I do not see three-way Kenwoods on the site. Which model number did you purchase?

 

I don't remember, but I will look them up tomorrow. I bought the complete kit with the panels. You might PM Lucid. He is always glad to make suggestions. He is a good guy and extremely helpful. He's a straight shooter.

The rear speakers make quite a difference. They "fill" the car with sound, even at speed with the top down.

I also replaced the door speakers with 3 way kenwoods, but I don't think they improved the sound nearly as much as the rears. If I had it to do again, I'd probably only add the rear speakers.

 

Is a amp needed or recommended?

 

Many people think so. I have the original head unit with only the additional speakers and an Apine 6 CD changer. I am satisfied with my setup, but I am by no means an audiophile.

I suggest that you check out the electronics forum. There are many there who are very serious about their sounds. Also, they are wizards and can walk you through most anything. I find great suggestions on the electronics forum.
