Default buying a s2000

okay here is the deal i am look to buy my first car the choices ive narrowed it down to are s2000, 8th gen si, or a mkv gti. of course the s2k would be the fastest/most enjoyable car to have. but i do live in new england so that means a good amount of snow in a winter and pretty bad streets and also this would be my first car and daily driver. but if it makes a differance in the winter i would switch my plates over to my dads truck.

now here is the finical part i am 16 yeaa iam still a kid but i have saved up 7000$ from my past job and am out of work right now but there is a 2006 s2000 with 20k on it and the dealership is asking 15,000 (i talked them down from 17) for it and i went to test drive it and the car is mint no dings no scratches its perfect and i kno its a great deal and i really dont want to pass on it since because i dont know if i would find something like that again when the gti, and si i can always find in good conditions/low miles. the dealership suggested that i put 5,000 down and put 2,000 in the bank for payments and they would give me a month and a half untill i had to start making payments which would give me about 7 months untill i had to find another job to make payments. my parents are not helping on the car but i am very greatful that they are paying for my insurance so i dont have to worry about that.

SO for all of you who actually read all of that just give me your advice on which car you think would be best for me. and if you think that financing it even before i get a job would be a good idea in my situition and thanks for reading.

Don't do it. It's not the kind of car for a 16 year old kid to have. You'll most likely end up crashing it and/or messing it up accidentally. Just get something cheap, learn to drive on it, then get an S2000 when you can afford it.

you will be starting your motoring life with a great car and it will suck to have to get a beater when you can't make ends meet. Get a POS first and save your money. You have the rest of your life to get a cool car. Good luck. :0

A dealership would suggest something like that.

Also, 15k for an 06' w/20k miles? Sounds like $15,999 with a dealer fee or a salvage title.

Reasons This Thread is BS
By dammitjim

1. Can't get financing without a j-o-b
2. No 2006 with 20k that is worth buying is $15k at a dealer

You will most likely crash the s2000. Even the SI is a little much for a 16yr old as his first car. You dont want car payments at 16 either. Just find a car for $7,000 pay it off and be done with it.

You have NO JOB!! You have no business getting a car that you will have to make payments on!! Obama would smack the sh!t out of you!! My generation had no concept of money or debt and look at the mess we are in now, but we would have never imagined doing what you are suggesting (well most of us atleast). If every 16 year old thinks like you, I am afraid of what things will be 12 years from now.

On top of your money issue, the amount of immaturity exhibited by even suggesting such a poor decision tells me that you in no way need a car like the S2k or even any of the others you listed. You will get tickets, will ruin you insurance and your parents, and will likely wreck, all before you are 18.

My suggestion pay cash for a 3-5K civic and throw the rest of the money in the bank for emergencies/repairs. This is the perfect car for a new driver and will teach you maturity and values.

buy a beater or just keep driving your parents car...it looks fun and you want to be up with the crowd, but most of us are grown and have a steady job...its not worth it...start with a job son...
