lol iam not saying that iam a good driver was the best driver that has gone to my driving school though (at least my instructor told me that
). but no cars have always been the biggest part of my life for as long as i can remeber. i wanted a eg and eventually swap it wth a k20. but i thought about it and was like if iam gonna spend that much money on everything why not just buy something that will be a good car that will last me a good 5 years or so. plus my parents love the idea of me getting a s2000 and dont want me to get a beater or something they think is unsafe or they wont help with the insurance.

if this will be your only car what are you supposed to do during the winter time??
@ sure you may be able to make the payments, but can you afford to actually drive the car? tires/gas/ everything else gets eaten up pretty quickly

Don't borrow money for a car! You don't want to have payments especially when you're 16. Plus other costs of running it as mentioned.
Heck, I was 16 four years ago and just got my s2k recently (paid cash). I had a civic that I learned on (civics are great first cars btw) and yes, I did crash and people crashed into me. That was a learning experience and I'm a relatively better driver now.

2. No 2006 with 20k that is worth buying is $15k at a dealer

S2000 Talk Advice with Grandpa CKit:
1. Everyone thinks they're mature... and a good driver.
2. If you polled people before they wrecked their S2000s, they'd probably swear they were mature... and good drivers.
3. I had a sport bike when I was 16. My parents loved me very much, but they very much underestimated the asshattery potential of a teenage boy. I'm lucky I made it to 17...
4. Can you really afford this car? No way. Should you get the car? Maybe.
5. My $0.02. Study HARD and don't sweat the material stuff at your age. Get a hatch, hang out with friends, meet some 16 year old girls. Go to a good college and get a great job. Buy a sweet bachelor pad and a sweet car then.
6. Don't shoot yourself in the foot busting your ass at a minimum wage job at the expense of enjoying your teenage years and getting a quality education.
7. When you're old and crunchy, can make $7k in a weekend of overtime, and have lots of nice cars in the garage... you'll wish you hadn't given up your youth slaving away for $5 an hour.

Did you drive a manual while attending said driving school? No? I didn't think so. Are driving schools dumbed down for stupid ass chicks who parents will buy them a $40k lexus? Why yes, yes it is.
2) You don't use periods.
3) You don't use capitalization
Anyways, I live in a rich city and chose the s2000 for $16k as my first car, but I had a good 2 years of driving a crappy SUV first that I shared with my dad. Ask yourself, "If I get a fun sports car, do I want to wreck it?" Don't be arrogant. Many kids will be involved in a wreck, it is part of growing up.
I think I am going to retire my s2000 soon and switch to a ford f-150, and I am 100% serious about that. College isn't a place for an s2000, honestly high school is better off than college.
The year leading up to buying my car I would literally have nightmares about where I would go outside and my s2000 would have vanished into thin air by being stolen.
Do you really want a nice car sitting in a college parking lot for 4-6 years, assuming you are going to college? You have to wonder every night if some dumb drunk kid who has no respect for another man's property has keyed a school mascot on your car. Because my brother's saturn had a longhorn keyed into his front bumper, doesn't even resemble a longhorn >.<.
So no, the s2000 is definitely not right for you if you have $7k, you are a kid unemployed in a job market where it is hard as hell for kids to find jobs right now, and this is not a $10k car. Rear tires alone cost me $350.

381 Pages for "Seats Stolen" should tell you this isn't a car to allow sit in an unattended parking lot for 4 years of college.
Get a car you can screw around with for 6 years of your life before moving on to something nice.

Some parents need a good smack upside the head, that's the reality of things. Ckit had some great advice. If your parents are going to be paying for the car (which wouldn't surprise me it sounds like), then it's a whole different scenario (although I'd never buy my kid an s2k as a first car). If you're honestly going to be paying for most of the expenses, you're going to be scraping by for a while just to be able to drive it.
I will take the decent path and not call you or your parents dumb or immature.
I will tell you that an S2000 at the age of 16 is a mistake. It only takes one bonehead split second decision to wreck this car...its not an easy car to start your driving career out with. There are a lot of older 'experienced' drivers that have lost concentration for a second and lost their S.
So you asked for advice....go with the Si, or the GTi. FWD, still alot of fun, and safer for that first accident you will have. We've all had that first accident.
Good Luck with your decision. I hope you make the right one.

all these people here with their common sense responses, makes me sick...lol.
all i'm going to say is that you only live once, and if you going to kill youself doing something you love(driving), i say do it in style, so go ahead and get yourself the s2000. Your going to kill yourself, what does it matter if you leave a little debt reminder for your father to remember you by when your gone. The only mistake i see that you're making is buying an '06, you should buy something cheaper...
something like this, i'll vouch for this guy, he's a stand-up guy....
