Buying a s2k soon!
Hey guys i posted about a week ago informing you that I was looking into a s2000 and i thank all of you who responded with the info i had asked for. Now, I have never owned a manual transmission car before. I have however learned a little bit when i was in high school (I'm turning 26 in May so the s2k is a gift to myself) but never really had the chance to practice. So my cousin who knows how to drive one suggested we rent a car from the local rental places and he would teach me all over again to get my confidence up in driving a manual so I can enjoy the s2k when i buy one. I think the only problem with this is that I don't think car rental agencies carry any manual transmission cars (right?). Please let me know if you guys know any resources or know any car rental agencies that rent out stick cars. BTW, I live in Maryland around the Washington D.C. area. Any advice would help....thanks!
PS - I prefer learning before I get the s2k and not after so I don't mess up the clutch.

Sorry I can't help with the rental question but the S is a pretty easy manual to drive.
I remember my first manual. A bpu 3000gt vr4 with aftermarket clutch. Hahah.... Now that was not the easiest way to learn.

my sister has a manual transmission that I drove once around the neighborhood for like 15 minutes with some help from her. Thats the only experience I had before I bought the S. I admit it was a rough first day, but its pretty easy.
my friend bought his srt-4 before he had any idea how to drive manual. i drove it home from the dealer for him. he learned that night around his neighborhood. it's easy. just takes a bit of practice.

The first manual transmission car I bought was my 03 Accord and I had to work that night delivering food so I taught myself killed it quite a few times but by the end of the night I was good to go.
I learned by myself on my first car, a 1995 3000GT. Hills are the one thing that might scare you a little bit. If it does just pull up the ebrake before you let off the foot brake and start to ease off the ebrake once you feel the car starting the catch. Not the best for the car but neither is running into the car behind you. lol
