Buying a salvage title
Well I found a salvaged title car. It was a salvage title due to theift , the interior door panels were stolen and replaced but with Black panels vs. the red. The front bumper and headlights were replaced as well. There is some body rashes due to someone trying to get the car into a flatbed. There is a small fold in the front left fender where they had removed the bumper. The Steering wheel was replaced too but the horn does not work.
However for another $4k I can get the same car but with no damages.
Both cars are low mileage and are mechanically sound.
Should I go for the lesser car and try to get the body fixed or just go for the $4k more one?

I don't think it will be any less reliable. The problem is there is a HUGE market for s2ks in the 12-14k price range. In a normal situation, a salvage title car would not go for near what s2k salvaged go for. However, since there is such a huge market for s2ks in this price range, even a banged up one is worth that much. Make sense? Ez economics, at least to an economics major =]
I'd try to save for a clear title to save some headaches and potential insurance issues. You can get a good one for 15k now if you are willing to travel.

Thanks for your responses guys. The price for the car is $11k, but now that I'm looking and doing my research I'm finding that there are cars for a few more thousand that are in much better condition.
