Every now and then I see a really good deal on used s2k's but they usually carry a salvage title.

Any tips on what to look for so I don't buy one that will give me problems?
I would be careful with a salvage title. Remeber a friend buying a civic hatch back in the days and he didnt understand what salvage ment and the guy who sold it to him didnt tell him either. Boy did that car have problems. He luckily found the seller and he was a good enough guy to refund him the money. Definately be cautious. Now if the car was salvage only for stolen seats and slashed top that maybe a good one. But will still definately hurt the resale value.

i bought a salvaged s2k, but I don't plan on selling it, and have turned it from a wreck into a full widebody.

Like others have said, if you plan on keeping it forever, which I do, make sure the frame and everything is ok.

I'm in the market for an s2k too, and the salvaged titles do look quite good. Is Carfax the only real way to find out the specifics of it being salvaged?

you can look on autocheck, its cheaper then carfax. It also told me where the car was hit.

I would advise against purchasing a salvaged S2000 or any car which has been salvaged; unless you have done your homework some S2k's have been salvaged for stolen seats.

You notice that EVERY salvage S2k for sale had the seats stolen or top slashed. Rarely will you find cars that were salvaged as result of a wreck, being advertised as salvaged because of a wreck. I never trust adds that say....ohh yeah, the car has a salvage title because it was stolen, or the seats were stolen, or my top was cut, etc... Very rarely is this the case. Granted stolen seats and cut tops are much more believable with an S2k, I just feel like these oh-so-innocent explanations are all too common.

does insurance allow full coverage for a salvage car? or do they only let you have liability?
