Thumbs up Buying a Used S2000. The Movie.

Found a dealer with a used (10K mile) 2009 GPW/Red S2000 for $29.2K + TTL. This includes the "Honda Certified" used car warranty which bumps to coverage to 4/48 bumper-to-bumper and 7/100K powertrain.

Car is perfect from what I can tell. It only has 1 remote to go with the 3 keys, is that normal?

GPW is my color of choice, and I don't find that many decent used ones in this color.

Quick feedback appreciated.

UPDATE:
Got CarFax...it was clean but this car was a LEASE!

Not sure buying a leased car is a great idea. Opinions?

Just to give you an idea, I got my 07 GPW with 27k mi single owner from a dealer with their certified pre-owned warranty for $20k with TTL.

With that much mileage on an 09... pretty high price.

IMO the dealer has the advantage since 09s are the last models. Check KBB, Nada Guide and edmunds to see what the real market value is.

Buying a used car and a leased car isn't that different IMO. If anything a leased car might be better if the leaser is afraid to pay for any damages done to the car.

My car was leased. I think its not a bad idea to buy a leased car. it means that they had to take some sort of good care of it before they gave it back to the dealer. 29k seems was to expensive. I would try and get them down to about 25k

KBB, Edmunds and NADA all show this car to be ~29-30K from a private seller. I'm not sure why there is such a premium on the '09 over previous years.

It is a bit more than I was looking to spend by about 4K, but the CPO warranty and the fact that it is EXACTLY the color combo I wanted makes it hard to pass up.

Well I agree with others that the price is high, but that is your call to make. If you feel this is a good deal and its the car you're comfortable with...get it. You won't be sorry. After driving it a while, you'll forget about what you paid anyway.

As for lease, don't worry. If anything, it gives you a better opportunity to acquire service records, which to me is valuable when buying used.

Good Luck...go get it!

I dont think the CPO warranty is really worth that much extra. I think an 08 in that color combo would be just as good a deal. About a year and a half ago in late 08 early 09, 08 models were going for 25k-27k new before ttl at some point.

I got mine for $27.5k +TTL new. That sounds high.

I'd look more and see if you can buy it elsewhere, ie from a nearby state. If not, that's harder.
