This is CORRECT. It seems many tranmissions out there have this sound from their transmission. But in most FWD cars, the transmission is further in the engine bay and insulated. In the NSX, it is further back and in the engine bay and insulated.

When I watched the early Best Motoring videos on the S2000, it had the sound. What was interesting is that one of their latest videos showed the Lotus Elise races and they all had that transmission rattle - almost all throughout the rev range!
