Which CAI is the cheapest?
You saw it on ebay. But I saw it on www.procarparts.com .
As long as I am concerned I don't think that any CAI is worth the money.
why: Cos it probably makes a lot of noise, and that's country.(its showing off,the car is enough)
The best way of air intake is the current, cos its quiet when its suppose to and loud when its supposed to.
But I still would buy the 50$ one just for the fun of it.
By the way your wheels I like.
They are good.
Info a little please

I think this way. Most things today are invented in the west but produced in the far east. You know why.
And this is why the intake is cheap. If it had a brand name would be expensive.Probably most intakes are produced in the east and than sold as a brand name company so you pay for the name most of the time.If you buy an MB motor oil for your Mercedes its lets say 30$ a liter and if you buy an Mobil 1 you pay lets say 13$.
And both oils are Manufactured by Mobil 1.The same grade.
So you have the answer.

Well, here's how I think it works:
(1) American/Japanese companies with big R&D departments design the parts using scientists and labs and dynos and stuff.
(2) Once their prototypes are tested and completed, they outsource to whoever can make it cheapest--might be in Mexico, the south, who knows...the materials and labor per unit produced are very cheap...but since they've got all that money sunk into R&D, they have to charge a high price for it
(3) Little companies get a hold of one of these and make a copy of it. Since they didn't have to spend all that money on R&D, it's very cheap to produce and they can charge a low price.

i find this kinda of interesting how when there was a group buy for the AEM knockoff by a board sponsor for ~$100, so many people jumped all over it. im not sure where that group buy stands, but i dont think anyone received their CAI yet. the CAI's from the GB were supposed to be inexpensive knockoffs produced in asia (taiwan), but did not include a filter. i strongly believe that the intakes sold by procarparts are the same intakes.
i just sold some stuff on ebay and my paypal acct has some excess cash.. im going to go ahead and spend the $30 to see exactly what kind of intake this is, and see what it is. since my engine bay is totally barren cuz of the sc removal, i'll attempt to install it (the auction says that there are no instructions). i'll take pics and write up a report once the auction completes.
if there is anyone out there that might be able to donate a set of instructions for their AEM, i'd greatly appreciate it.. please scan/mail/fax me the instructions and i'll try my best to put a end to this thing.
thanks,
brian

bkw, you can get K&N CAI instructions from the link below:
http://www.knfilters.com/typhoon/69-1040.pdf
I just received mine and it looks good except for a tiny dent in the filter element. Actually the filter looked pretty good too. I couldn't see through it. I want to know the difference between this and what 4IG was working up for the group buy. I know that he sold his with K&N filter and was gun metal in color.
Just looking at the K&N instructions, I think we are missing some brackets and hoses, but nothing I can't fabicrate or find locally. I think I am going to look for K&N filter.
