caliper painting
I've got my decals, jack stands, G2 paint, and am ready to do the job tomorrow.
I am not planning on removing my calipers--I would like to, however after taking a look at the service manual and various threads, I decided that it is probably beyond me to take the calipers off.
Therefore, I did some searches and found a few pics--however does anyone have a thread they know of or tips for caliper painting when the calipers aren't removed?
I guess I'm looking for some info such as what to avoid painting, how many coats, what to cover up, etc. Any info will be much appreciated.

I've painted calipers w/ out removing them. You want to get a heat resistant paint, (I've used duplicolor honda red) The can has a picture of an engine on it. It also states that baking the paint on will result in a better job (if you removed the caliper and have a backup oven in the garage... I know but some people really do! I figure the heat of regular breaking will do the same because my calipers have yet to chip. I also clean the outside of the calipers w/ simple green by using a light metal small brush (the size of a toothbrush). After it dries I then spray the paint in the cap of the can. I then insert a small (water color) type brush and stir it a bit until it thickens a tad. This will keep the paint from running. Just paint anything that doesn't look like it has a hinge or moves. Basically the caliper itself, but not the spacers or anything that looks like it is clamped on. You will want to wait a couple of minutes between each coat and coat from 4 to as many times as you want. I've painted in the fall and winter months as much as the summer months and let me tell you, summer is much easier. The paint dries much quicker! I've done this for many friends and it truelly is not worth doing it in the winter. I think the paint does not adhere as well either. Anyway, good luck and carry a lint free rag to clean up any mistakes. Again good luck.
well according to the G2 paint box, you do not want to use high heat because the process of accelerated drying can lead to chipping of the paint--the instructions specifically say to use in 50-70F weather.

Ok, well I got finished painting today, and it looks pretty good. I'm going to leave my car jacked up til tomorrow morning and then put the wheels back on.
I got the decals from decal girl--where have people put the decals that are supposed to go on the back? Any decal install tips?
