It dosen't matter what kind of vehicle it is, it can and will be stolen somewhere. As for the alarm, I don't see where they work that well. Just think, how many times have you been walking into Wal-Mart, Mall, etc., and heard someones alarm going off? And what did you do? Nothing. It is an everyday thing to hear someones alarm going off for some reason now.

To an extent YES... If I'm parked on Ocean Drive YOU DAMN RIGHT I'm going to leave my top down... too many cars (ESPECIALLY one's more expensive than mine), too many people walking around.. if I'm leaving it in a Parking garage? HELL NO! in front of my house.. sure.. if I am at a store (not the mall I avoid that place like the plague with my car).. sure I see other people do it too all the time.. I don't have many valuables in the open area so they can't reach in... plus you can always put your windows up and it less' the chance of lurking hands...

instead of buying an alarm with an annoying sound how about installing a system that has police car sounds and a cop's voice booming "stay away from the vehicle! put your hands behind your head. walk away slowly."

Don't count on the factory Honda immobilizer alone. It's pretty useless, just ask all the 00-01 ITR owners who've had their cars stolen. It's unfortunate that hybriding is so popular. You have guys trying to install parts from other Hondas into their own cars...too bad these parts are often stolen. You S2K guys are lucky the Civic owners haven't figured out how to swap an F20C into their cars.

I had a bmw in the early 80's and it was broken into atleast 2 times a month for a stupid radio. I refused to get rid of the car. I learned that you can not let thieves control your life. The only other choice is NOT having my S2k. That is not going to happen. IF somebody wants something bad enough whether it is bolted, chained, cemented into the earth it just is not going to matter. They will get it. If they want it that bad go for it. That is what insurance is for.

You wanna talk freaked out? I found a board member's stolen S2000 on the second day of owning my new S2000!! I pulled into a Jersey rest stop and there it was, totally stripped. From the drive-train, interior, even a wheel was stolen! Made me paranoid for weeks.
If someone wants your car bad enough there gunna get it! It takes no more then 30 seconds with experienced hands.

someone mentioned that the ecu can be replaced... if you had a theft RECOVERY system (lojack, onstar, etc.)... would they not be able to recover the car because the ecu is replaced? (i don't know what an ecu is either).

does anybody have a theft recovery system? i hardly read any posts about people having them installed. i know the insurance company i want a policy with wont' give discounts for having a deterrent (regular *beep beep* alarm), but will give discounts for a recovery.
