does anybody have a theft recovery system? i hardly read any posts about people having them installed. i know the insurance company i want a policy with wont' give discounts for having a deterrent (regular *beep beep* alarm), but will give discounts for a recovery.
Trayn...

(is Jane your name or your car's?)

Lojack gives some peace of mind. I didn't get it, and it won't help a damn for vandals stealing parts out of a parked car, but your chances are higher of recovering the car with Lojack.

Replacing the ECU (engine control unit) will not disable Lojack. The installers hide the transponder(s) in some places that they don't disclose.

Check out your discount. Might be worth it for some drivers strictly on financial grounds. Not for me tho...

Best wishes.

One more thing...

Folks, do not let the crazies, vandals, and thieves rule your worlds. In the end, the Honda is -- heaven forfend -- just a car. Worry about the important things in your lives like your health, your family, and hittin the open road!

Gotta agree here. Any car can be stolen. The best you can do is slow down the thief. Of course you can always get the flame thrower option that's available in South Africa

Take a big, honkin' jumper cable and clip one side to the HID coil and hook the other side directly to exposed metal surface on the exterior skin of your car. Leave the light switch turned on.

3 trillion volts or so should take care of unwary bad guys.

(don't do this, I'm really just kidding Aren't those headlamps awesome though!! )

a few years ago a local body shop guy demonstrated to me the the my friend's `97 prelude could easily be stolen in 30 minutes......the prelude transponder is the same one found in our S2k....so yes the S2k can be stolenso get an alarm and full coverage

my advise is to (if you live in LA) find and install a switch to the ground wire on the fuel pump and hide it under the seat or in the trunk (if park for a long extended time just turn it off) you can find all the parts from radio shack or ask a local stereo shop to do it for you

The only things you could do with alarms and such is to Keep Honest People....HONEST!!! Car thieves will get whatever they want, whenever they want...... unless of course you are 50 feet away with your trusty Smith & Wesson... Kevin

I'm actually more concerned with my top being knifed, or my paint keyed or
my car being hit than it being stolen. If it's stolen, they might as well keep it
because I'll get a new one; if something is damaged I'll have to take care of
it, which is a hassle.

Now I'm reading more and more about our seats being a hot target, so there's
something else to be concerned with. Oh, well. It's ALWAYS something! I try
not to worry about stuff I can't control, so I simply enjoy my S to the fullest.
