I guess my main question is, would one time be bad for it? I really need it cleaned today and I don't have time to take it to a friends etc...
It's your judgment call to make. People have posted the risks. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Mine has always been hand washed.

How is it that you "really need it cleaned" but don't have time? Make the time.

also watch for hydrolock if you have cai. had an issue with that the one and only time i took mine through a brushless. and my trunk was damp, so i had to let that air dry as well.

i did it once. I asked the attendant what he though, and he said it shouldent be a problem.

As soon as the bar sprayed water at my back window (MY01) water just poured into the car as if there was nothing there. I think that the seal on the top of the window, or lack thereof, lead to this.

Took me almost an hour to get all the water out of the tray behind the seats the the top folds into, and my trunk was all wet.

Bad idea.

Ok, don't everybody yell, but I've been taking mine through a touchless carwash for the last 4 winters. I've done it with the soft top a few times, and no water in the trunk. All the rest have been w/a hardtop installed. I daily drive this in Rochester, NY and wash it once/week during the winter to keep the salt down. So far, no damage. Still have paint, no noticeable scratches, and the antenna is fine. I say, to each their own..

No to car washes. The manual says no, I say no as well. I don't want to affect the seals nor the rear window attachment. Also, if anything does go wrong with the top that looks like it might be seal damage - they'll probably say you put in the car wash. Be careful.

The correct answer would be NO. Do not take your car to car washes. Now, if you want to do it just once, than that is the risk you are willing to take. We have told you what can happen, so it is really up to you.
