So the steering ratio is slower on an AP2? I didn't know that.

How much slower?

It's about as much slower as the AP2's transmission ratios have been lowered relative to the AP1's. That is to say, it's only a couple of percentage points.

Honda changed more than just the steering ratios on the AP2's. There were a number of folks who cried about it, "they're just dumbing down the car again," kind of stuff. I saw at least one article comparing the AP2 to the AP1 that said that the turn in on both cars was very similar. They could tell a "slight" difference in really tight maneuvering but beyond that, it wasn't a big deal. Just like the AP2's slightly bigger engine and slightly lower gearing didn't really produce a faster car, even though the numbers say it should have been.

If you just have to spend the money on this, go for it, but try to keep an open mind as to how much of an improvement, if any, it's going to make. These kinds of things remind me of the guy who puts the super loud exhaust on the car and then goes bragging about how much faster it is because of the extra noise when in fact, he just took 2 seconds off his quarter mile time!

Good luck,
Steve R.
