Can we perform our own diagnostics on the S2K?

I was helping my friend fix his Boost gauge on his MR2, and he was performing a diagnostic on his car. He put this two pronged wire in a special order in his diagnostic console. And depending on the sequence his engine light flicked it told him whats wrong with the car(he had a book for the order). Do we have anyway of performing our own diagnostic?

The workshop manual (and I suspect the Helm manual) show you how to perform many diagnostics on the car using various button sequences. Get a hold of the manual and see if it covers the sort of things you need to know.

In my Prelude there is a connector that hides under the center console on the driver's right side.

If I reach under the console, I can feel the connector and pull it down. It's a green female connetor. It mates up to a male connector that shorts that ciruit. For me to run a diagnostic code check, I just stick a wire into both receptors of the connector (shorting it) while the ignition key is set to on.

The check engine light flashes a number of times. Depending on the number of flashes, determines the code. . .there is a code related to what's wrong with the car.

I'm guessing that the S2K is wired somewhat the same way.

Aus,

see that blue one to the bottom most in the pic (the one with only two wires of the same color going into it)? I think that is the one.

Although the connector in the '94 Prelude is green...there's no reason why it can't be a blue connector now.

luder gets the meat tray.

I just checked the workshop manual and if you put a wire across those connectors it will go into a diag sequence. I'll post the codes shortly.
