To me there is nothing a Z3 can do that both the Miata and S2000 can do better. I liked the idea of owning one but at the end of the day I both did not want another BMW and realized there was no point in getting one when only a few extra bucks would get me a way better car (S2K), or a bunch less would get me a better one (Miata) and I'd have money left over to do all kinds of shit to it.


edit: As far as Miatas go they are great cars. Cheap, fun, and easy as hell to keep running and work on. You can do a lot to them for not a ton of money, and you can beat the shit out of them and they don't care. I've wanted one for a while, but I could not forgive myself if I had the opportunity to get an S2000 again and passed it up. I found one and jumped on it and I am so happy I did

 

i can personally put in the input of the miata and s2000 as i had one before. I LOVED MY MIATA! to this date i still miss it, BUT the power band...s2000 has it written all over. Like another person stated, the s2000 is a miata on steroid and also more modern updated! (im comparing from a NA miata to a s2000 not a NB or NC). The miata support side is also alot greater as that car has been around for more then 20 years old. I would instantly give up my s2000 right now for a ls1 swap miata....driving those are like a monster that no one knows. As for practicallity i love the s2000, its something i dont mind taking the lady out for a dinner instead of my miata. It is also more comfortable compared to the miata. Handleing wise as i just got my s2000 about a month ago i still love how the miata handles compared to the s2000. The miata felt so much more agile and way forgiving...then again it only has 100 hp to work with.

In retrospect it is hard to compare the miata to the s2000 as they are both in differnt price bracket as of today, Miata can go for 800 salvage (my buddy got a clean one for $500 0-0) compare to a s2k where it is 6k salvage. or 2k clean title compare to 9k clean title. I would not conside the NC miata comparable to the s2000 as it feels way bulkier to the miata. Reason why i got the s2000 instead of the NC Miata after a test drive.

Part are also especially cheap, slap on a kraftwork supercharger and u will be at 200whp and it cost 2.5k. Blow the motor and there goes 400 for one or spend 1000 installled for a replacement motor. Messed up arms, tranny etc....they are CHEAP! there also ALOT more miata on the road to make up for the price. i paid 600for my driveshaft, torsen lsd, and axle with install!

 

Miata is hideous. That was enough for me.

An S2000 is already on the verge of too small & girly for me. A Miata would go overboard twice in that regard. Plus, it's just damn ugly. & to top it off, getting a Miata when you can afford an S2000 is like living in a studio apartment when you can afford a modest house.

 

Yup. You got it. It Says No Noobs Please. This Not anyway Bashing a Miata. If anything The people who said these things are bashing on our cars. I just know the s2000 is the better choice in performace and style. I agree you can make the miata fast. And it's rear wheel drive. But i'd rather have a S2000 or a K series motor swap if i'm going to build a cheap car..

 

My NA 1.8 Miata was the most fun car I've EVER owned....... having said that, I wouldn't choose one over my S just purely based on how awesome and beautiful the car looks. And the people hating on the Miata obviously haven't really owned one. IMO the my Miata took corners better than my S ever did, and if you need proof, just go to an AutoX and see them toast S2k's all day long.

 

Well said bro. Just different strokes for different folks. If you have the Money to buy an S2000 instead of a Miata, Then well i guess it's just your preference.

I might want to own a miata one day with a crazy swap just for fun. But as my DD or nice day cruiser. NO!

 

True That!!! I have seen them on the autoX. And they do damn good!!! This is one of my reasons for talking about them. nimble little cars with rear wheel drive.
Actually talked with a few owners and they say hands down for AutoX this is your car!! Cheap easy to fix and can make it quick.

Do you think this is because of the Oversteer on our cars? or Just all The Extra the s2k has on it?
