Can You Really Compare a S2000 to a Miata? Really?
I guess I just don't give a sh!t what anyone else thinks when it comes to my ride. What other people think is their problem. I try not to let other people decide how I want to feel.
Yeah, we really just need more Canadians. They seem to be able to simmer a slow boil even on the worst of days.
If you want horsepower go with an Evo or Mustang.
If you want something cheap and some what comparable to an S get a miata.
If you wanna go off reading get a jeep.
The S2000 is a drivers car. I havent driven a car that has given me the same expirence. You want proof just look at how many S drivers come back after selling their car. It's really something you can't compare to an Evo, sti, Mustang or miata. Okay the miata is similar but falls short.
Long story short
Miata- fun to drive, easy and doesn't break the bank.
S2000- pushes you to drive harder, make you hit the limit. Worth the money none the less.
P. S. I've raced evos and stis with bolt ons and tunes and I've beat or kept up with all of them so Idk why people would call these cars slow.

In this thread: insecure S2000 owners who feel the need to gloat about how much better their S2000s are when compared to Miatas. ...No one in this thread is learning anything new. There's no real discussion going on in this thread; it's just a self-esteem booster for some posters. In fact, it seems like the majority of people here have already made up their mind and aren't even open to anything that disagrees with their decision. And to many of you who claim that you're not bashing the Miata, your tone speaks otherwise. It's along the same lines as any statement that starts with "I'm not racist, but..."
There's nothing wrong with having a great car and celebrating how awesome it is. But it would be nice to pair that up with some tact and a dose of reality.

It's plainly obvious that few people discussing this thread have driven a Miata. Yes the S is a better car, and you pay the extra dough for that. But for the price of a nice stock S, you can have a fully built Miata that will run circles around it. Who cares if it has to be modded to do that, when you still have the same or less money in it than a stock S. And consider the fact that you would then have to invest substantially in the S to get it to keep up at that point. The major auto publications don't rant and rave about Miatas for no reason. People on this board make no sense sometimes. If its really that big of a deal to choose between one then buy BOTH. This way you can fully appreciate the pros and cons of each, instead of bench discussing about a car you know nothing about...
Put it this way.. the AP2 was tested by Modified. They managed a slalom speed of 71.0mph and Lateral Speed of (.89G) AP1 was (.92G) which is amazing. MotorTrend tested the Competition Package E46 M3 only managed 66.6mph slalom and its Lateral Speed was (.91G). The GTR, Nurburing beast, got 73.4mph slalom and 1.01G. Remember, the GTR has good tires, the S2000 was a stock AP2 tested. So with a set of tires on 17s and coilovers, your set. Only reason the S2000 didn't do all that great on Nurburing is lack of power. Otherwise the S2000 is out and beyond a Miata. It handles better than a M3, watched plenty of owners pass M3s on tracks.
Still love the S. Both cars are very good cars. But don't underestimate Miatas. Even bone stock, they are extremely good cars for the money.
