Do any of you put on an outdoor cover even if your S hasn't just been washed?
I would like to use mine more often but till now I only put it on right after washing (and drying) the car. Would it hurt the paint if I put the cover on when there may be some dust on the paint? Nothing major like bird droppings or mud.

I tried the search but kept getting errors.

use a california duster or quick detailer before you use it. i cover my car at work almost every day and i only wash it once a week.

As long as I don't "drag" the cover across the paint, i think it's fine

 

If it's just dust, I throw on the cover.

I use Jetseal109 and I figure it should protect the paint. If the sealant can't even take care of a soft car cover sliding, then bleh. haha, It's been fine so far and I cover almost every night.

 

I dunno but I saw a guy with a BB and he put a cover on it all the time and he had scratches and swirls in the clearcoat

 

just be careful..might drag some particles over the car..

A lot also depends on the type of cover used. I'd avoid the generic (i.e., cheap) covers and go with a custom fitted, multilayered cover made for indoor use only (e.g., true dust cover).
