Car Insurance for CR
I have an ap1 with a hardtop and the convertible top removed. I called State farm regarding lowering my insurance since now there is less of a chance that my seats would get stolen or since I have no convertible top, it getting ripped.
They advised me last year that there was no option for a hardtop for this car and due to this no deduction.
Now, they have the 2008 cr, when going to their site, they don't display this model has an option for the s2k.
What have owners of the CR done when they have gone to get insurance for the car.
Thanks

I am in the insurance business and this is not out of the ordinary for carriers to be delayed in quoting late model vehicles especially if they are completely new to the manufacturer or a new style offering different options like in you situation. This is mainly due to to the fact that there is no data out there to rate the risk for this particular vehicle. Most if not all insurance carriers will use the VIN to decode the type of vehicle anyway during application process and use this data to provide a rate. I would suspect that they are still using the last model year until they get the info they need in which they will change your rates according in the future. Personally, I wouldn't count on a huge price break from convertible to hard top, because it would only give you a discount on your comp coverage, which shouldn't be higher than your collision coverage on a late model vehicle.
