when i first start my car for the 1st second and that only, it stutters for just a second you can see the rpm's drop it looks like it wants to shut off the next seconds fine..
is that normal??
This little peculiarity has been reported by quite a few owners. It has something to do with a change in ambient air temp, humidity and other factors that are somewhat "mysterious". Mine does this when we transition from fall to winter when the temps begin to drop. Somehow, this causes the ECU a bit of grief. After a few cold start cycles, it has always "learned" and no longer does it till about the same time next season. Let the car do this on its own. Do not try to compensate by using the throttle till the idle stabilizes (as you say, it only takes a few seconds).
If it doesn't "get over it", try the following:
Go to your MAP sensor. It is located on top of the throttle body. Give it a few light taps with the handle end of a screw driver (a known fix). If this doesn't do it, then reset the ECU by pulling the BACK UP fuse (for about 30 seconds with the car OFF) under the dash. It is the one in the 3rd slot on the right row of fuses. If you do not have DRL's, it will be the 2nd fuse you will see.
Cool...good info. I noticed this happens to my car too with our 'variable' Chicago weather. It happened a few days ago when our temperature dropped below freezing again. After a day or so, it got 'used' to the weather and acted normal again!
Thanks for the info xviper, I will try it tonight.
Mine does it both when I turn it on and when
I turn it off (the turning off part sounds like in the movies when they
show an old clunker that shudders and rattles when they turn it off)
I too got mine less than a week ago so it has only known this kind of weather.
