Just had to chime in. First, Miami did miss a downshift, heck, we all probably have. His post was missleading in blaming the car and that was pointed out to him. And while I can sympathize with any S2K owner with car problems, I can not support them when they make a mistake which caused the damage and then want a warrenty fix. Add to that the fact that he was street racing well in excess of 90mph (had to be to overrev in 3rd) and the issue is futher clouded. But I will also not come down on them. I just ask that he recognizes and accepts responsibility for his actions.

The same goes for personnal attacks and flames on this and other post. There is no need for it from any party. So try to keep it civil, and let's try to keep this board informative, useful, and fun.

Sunchild, I think there is/was some constructive input by people on this thread. All I said was that I know firsthand what it's like to lose an S2000 and in the days after the loss I felt rather, ummmm, freaking horrible. So rather than beat up our friend with telling him how bad a driver he is, it would be nicer if we could offer some kind advice on how to avoid this from happening again.

I have misshifted on the racetrack, but each time, I think it's happened twice, I was RIGHT back on the clutch and avoided floating/over-reving. That's my only advice, get ready to get that clutch pedal back down if you even suspect that you are in the wrong gear...

I was just saying that instead of beating up on the guy, even though he was racing on the street (something few among us are 100% innocent of, btw), it might be better to offer good advice instead of what some chose to do...

Over and out...

Well I have to say the guy who 1st replied with ... "the driver took a dump" was much more harsh than Bieg! I also think Bieg's inital post was dead on...

Heck we have all mis_shifted... most of us, get the clutch back in and do not blame the car. Bieg's post just pointed out the fact that it was not the cars fault. The attacks on Bieg, and not the other posts that IMHO were harsher, were unwarranted.

The guy was doing well over 110 and blew the shift. End of story. The fact that he got it fixed under warranty says much more for Honda than the driver.

I think it all depends on which end of the classroom you sat in during high school. I have an image of Beig in the back of the class, scratching things into his desk, while gregstevens sits up front dreaming up posters for his upcoming election and raising his hand a lot. I guess it all depends on who you identified with back then. I personally appreciate both POV's.

Actually, Sunchild, I was punk in school...I smoked pot all through my teen years, started when I was 13 quit when I was 20, just turned 35 two weeks ago today...at S2KDays, btw. I was always outgoing, but never followed anybody's rules. Still don't, nor do I see that changing. I never was elected, nor did I want to be, to any kind of office in school, college or anywhere else. Natural leader, always looking for the good in situations and people...must be the cancer survivor in me. Enthusiasm becomes a personality trait when you are faced with death.

So your characterization of my youth really isn't correct. I was always a rebel, never liked the system, still don't (must be why I am self employed). I'm a DIY kind of guy...I was skateboard punk...I'm still a punk (in the classic sense of the word) at heart. Live and let live...and leave me alone...that's my motto.

But you're correct in other ways.

Hey Greg,

Answer this, WHY would anyone sponsor you? Are you racing in SCCA? If so what class allows all those mods? Why WOULD someone give you free stuff?

I am betting that just as I have said the companies that give you free stuff figure you are going to promote the products HERE on the forum and in your other enterprises.

Sure maybe the organizations are "non profit" but they give you a big user base to brag about to your "sponsors" and it is used to justify getting free stuff from them.

Free stuff sure helps YOUR bottom line doesn't it? Not to mention that even "non profit" organizations can pay their officers a salary or a stipend. Build this thing up enough and sell enough advertising and that is in the future so don't go all altruistic on us.

So you invested a grand. So what? How many dollars in free parts do you have so far?

You are so full of it and you HATE me for pulling back the curtain to show people what you are about.
